After being imported to the United States sometime in the 1930s, the Basenji became popular, which lead to the breed becoming a member of the American Kennel Club in 1943.

Physical Appearance

As mentioned, the Basenji has a strong, proud look that is hard to miss. This breed is small, typically between 20 to 24 pounds and about 17 inches tall. The hair is short, the eyes almond shaped, and especially when puppies the forehead is wrinkled. In a loud voice and with a distinct Seattle accent, she counted down the last few seconds -- 12:59.58, 12:59.59 . . . Suddenly, she whipped the flag through the air and jumped into the cab of her rig.

Diesel engines instantly roared to life, bright headlights came on and Hairless Harry’s eyes turned dark and mean. He was dressed in all black, the same midnight black as the paint on his rig, when he harshly shoved his stick into gear. A size 22 boot slammed on the gas and his big shiny machine shot through the darkness -- through the parking lot and clean through the chain link fence.

His tires squealed, his engine roared and the strained metal of his rig cried out in anguish as he desperately tried to make the turn. Unfortunately, various branches of the government have been "borrowing" from the fund in vast amounts over the last decades.

The last time I checked, the fund was still being raided.

Instead of meekly letting our leaders tear down and steal our Social Security, how about we choose to fight, tooth and nail, anyone who would take it from us after we have paid our dues into it literally all our lives?

Fighting for what is ours is a much better course than working at Walmart when we're 70.

I have long been a fan of Reps. Todd Tiahrt and Jerry Moran, two good, conservative House members now running for the Senate seat currently held by Sen. Sam Brownback. In recent weeks, I've been disappointed by purposefully inaccurate and misleading advertising by Tiahrt's campaign.

A Tiahrt ad claims Moran is not anti-abortion because he voted against parental notification for abortion legislation two decades ago. The truth is he voted against the legislation on the advice of Right to Life of Kansas and several other strong anti-abortion legislators because he was advised it might result in more abortions due to parents pushing their daughters to abort.
